My husband and I rented this home on a whim to just get away and rest. This home provided just want we needed to relax. Unfortunately the weather spoiled our ability to sit on the deck and enjoy the lovely view in the comfy rockers.The gas fireplace was great. Home was very convenient to downtown West Jefferson. We went midweek and found many of the stores and downtown restaurants were closed for various reasons. I believe winter and mid week is a time for renovation and closures for many.But we were fine to cook at the house. But if shopping or eating out is a priority for the renter I would suggest going on the weekend.

We walked 3 times a day down the hills and then back up. It was just a nice quiet get away for us.

We're frequent renters of mountain houses and this was one of the best cabins we've ever stayed in. Not only are the views terrific, but the owners have thought of everything to make guests feel comfortable and at home. We spent Thanksgiving weekend at this cabin and it's incredibly well-stocked - it had everything we needed to do lots of cooking in the kitchen! The cabin is cozy and it was spotlessly clean. Both of the TVs were great sizes and the Rokus connected to both were a huge plus for streaming, not to mention the convenience of having cable too. All of the furniture was very comfortable and we loved the big porches with rocking chairs. The mountain views from this house and the neighboring street are some of the best views we've seen in the High Country. The management company was also great and made our stay easy. We are definitely planning to rent this cabin again!

Very clean impressive cabin with all the creature comforts of home. Comfy beds, lots of extra blankets, pillows and all the kitchen supplies you will need.

Main bedroom is on first floor, upstairs is 2 more bedrooms and downstairs in basement has den, laundry and fooseball. My 7 yo granddaughter loved that!

The only negatives is the fridge could use updating as it froze our milk and food, and the water pressure in shower is very low. Other than that it was perfect. The gas fireplace was easy to turn on with a switch and worked great. The homey touches were appreciated.

Lovely cabin with gorgeous views while still surprising close to West Jefferson. Well outfitted place. Maybe my only minor critique is that the basement media room relies on heating and cooling to come from upstairs, so in early April at night it was pretty cool down there. Otherwise, it was perfect.

The view from this cabin were excellent! The location was convenient to West Jefferson. The cabin was very clean and well appointed. We will definitely consider staying here again when we visit the West Jefferson area again.

Absolute High was about as perfect a cabin as I have ever rented! The location is wonderful ~~easy access to areas we like to visit. The furnishings are beautiful & comfortable! The rockers on the deck to enjoy the amazing views were the absolute best!! This was one of the best stocked kitchens we have seen! When we had a minor issue maintenance was there promptly & fixed the issue & was very friendly! The staff were very helpful & friendly when reserving & on check in & out day! We couldn't have asked for a better experience! We will be back!

A breath of fresh air literally! This home was perfect for our family - 2 adults, 2 small kids and 1 fur baby. The view here is absolutely amazing! The house is decorated very nicely, was cozy, clean, and just a great stay! We were doing things around the Boone/Blowing Rock area, but fell in love also with West Jefferson. The drive to Boone/Blowing Rock took a little longer because of road construction, but normally wouldn't be a bad drive at all! A great experience and we would definitely stay here again!

The accommodations were comfortable and functional. The view was breathtaking. Definitely worth the visit! Driveway is a little tricky and washed on the upper end. Individuals with limited mobility will be limited to main floor as steps to lower and upper levels are narrow and slick. Walk in shower and beautiful deck on main level.

Excellent views from a cozy cabin. Good for our family of five adults. Met our expectations and then some. It was decorated for the Christmas season with lights on the railings and little touches inside. Its year round colors are red and green so it was perfect. Good wifi. So close to town it was easy to go in for a meal or shopping.

We had trouble with the keypad lock when we arrived but had good service on getting it fixed.

Our only disappointment—Slightly uncomfortable mattresses. Could use better mattress pads perhaps.

We absolutely LOVED our weekend at this cozy cabin. It was clean, excellent condition and the decor was perfect for a cozy getaway. As it was just the two of us, we only used the main floor but would be a great cabin to bring our 3 teens as there are two more bedrooms and a nice finished basement/media room which they would love. We ate all but one meal in and the kitchen was well equipped for my personal 'hubby' chef. We had no problem finding the cabin, roads are well-marked as are the directions from the property company. We hiked nearby Mt Jefferson and spent the afternoon having lunch and exploring downtown West Jefferson. I only wish we were staying through Sunday so we could have hunkered down in front of the fireplace (which worked perfectly) and enjoyed the several inches of snow we awoke to on Sunday morning. A truck came through in the morning so we were able to follow the tracks down the mountain in our all wheel drive. To address a prior reviewer, we had no issue with the driveway either - in perfect shape. Lastly the property company was wonderful, even checking on Sunday to make sure we got out ok. Will definitely rent this home again... we love the whole area.

We ended up staying only one night due to freezing rain that occurred during the night. We made it down the mountain to ski the next morning but did not dare head back up to stay the second night. The view was amazing, the cabin was cute and the staff answered a call a night to help light the gas logs.

There are a few things like kitchen utensils that were not there. i brought some things from home. Overall we love the cabin. It is only 5 minutes downhill to West Jefferson. We love the view from the porch and the view when walking. The only problem when walking is back uphill. It really gives good exercise. We have the cabin again in August and can't wait to come back. Thanks!

We had a blast at Absolute High Cabin. The view is amazing and the town of West Jefferson is great. Breweries and great stores and downtown is worth walking around and exploring. We did expect a real hot tub as described in VRBO but there was just a big bath with jets that I guess they call a hot tub. But if you rent cabins like we do a hot tub is an actual hot tub with hot water around 103 to 110 degrees out on the porch so you can enjoy the view while in a hot bath. It was my wife’s birthday and she had an amazing weekend but a hot tub would have made it perfect.

This year we stayed at Absolute High for three nights, and we believe this is the best property we've rented. It's very convenient to West Jefferson, has a fabulous view, is comfortable and private. We rented this house as we like the area that allows us to be close to West Jefferson and not far from Boone. This house was in a quiet location and had a great view from the spacious deck overlooking the mountains. We drove to Whitetop which was a short trip, to ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail and staying at this house worked perfect for including the trail ride on this trip.

Absolute High is one of our favorite cabins. Have a seat in one of the deck rocking chairs and relish in the views of surrounding mountains. This cabin offers lots of sleeping options, with a roomy and functional kitchen and comfy sofas. Carolina Mountain Properties does a great job in preparing a clean and welcoming home away from home. We highly recommend Absolute High for couples or larger groups and you get to bring your four-legged friends too thanks to the pet-friendly accommodations. Absolute High will not disappoint.

We use to rent a house that has sense been sold. After three years of not going to West Jefferson for our anniversary it was time to return. After looking at several houses we decided on Absolute High. We were thrilled. The view is awesome and the house is easy to get to. The inside is clean and well maintained. Sitting on the porch at sundown makes you feel a world away. We have found our new vacation house!

This house was very much as described. It was very high up on the mountain with a spectacular view. The location was great as very close to West Jefferson and surrounding area. The home was very clean and contained what we needed during our stay. We spent many hours sitting on the back deck. We even saw a deer below munching on vines. Such a beautiful cabin, clean and welcoming. Decorated so that you can enjoy without feeling like you have to watch your every move for fear of breaking something. There are no words for the view!! Mornings on the porch were the highlight!! Being able to bring our 13 year old dog was the best-he loved the porch too. We certainly hope to be back!!

It was great birthday trip! My husband turned 65 and he loves the mountains. We have never been to West Jefferson, but have fallen in love! The cabin itself was spotless. The accomodations and appliances were great. The road was paved up to the cabin and easy to find. Close to grocery store and downtown area. By far the best thing about this cabin is the view!!! Simply amazing and quiet. We spent most of our time rocking on the deck and gazing. Breakfast and coffee every morning outside. The management company provided excellent customer service and the process itself was so smooth. We will definitely return to West Jefferson and Absolute High! I can't say enough about the view! Thanks for a memorable birthday experience and rejuvenation.

The cabin was adorable, and the view was great. Though some pretty important things were missing. There was no water pressure, the water was filled with dirt and grit, the shower curtain was mildewed, spiderwebs in the upstairs bedroom, uncomfortable furniture, and a terrible old grill that we felt like was about to fall apart. It was cozy, but not a place I would come back to.

This is my second time renting this cabin for Christmas. The cabin is well maintained and has everything needed. I brought my Christmas decorations with me as they don't really decorate this cabin. It was a cozy Christmas cabin with some snowfall and my family totally enjoyed being there. We sat by the fire enjoying the scenery out the large windows and it felt like home for the holidays.

The cabin inside was clean and comfortable but quite drafty by doors and windows. Temperature was 0 degrees outside. Unable to use the TV room or foosball in the basement due to the cold. View was outstanding and it snowed New Year's Eve so it looked like a winter wonderland.

My family of 4 had a wonderful time at this cabin right after Christmas. It was warm, clean, and inviting. The location was perfect - close to hiking and 5 minutes from groceries and town. The downside to us was that the "hot tub" was not actually a hot tub but a jetted bathtub. Our family was really looking forward to a family soak in a hot tub, but this was not possible with the set up. All in all it was a great set up for a few days away.

From the moment we drove up, this home was so welcoming. It beckoned relaxation. We cooked our meals there, and experienced our excursions around being at home. Loved the grill on the deck, and was well used:) Maybe, it is just me, and the fact that we have never rented a home for a vaca before. But, this home is truly special. THe views are breathtaking and spectacular. We got to watch storms roll in, and evaporation re-uptake into the clouds, and fire again! The boys loved it! We will be back!!!

The experience was wonderful. The home is beautiful and well equipped. The only note I would change is that the home is at least a 40 minute drive Boone. It was expressed by more than 3 people when asking how far the drive is from Boone that is was 20 minutes. It was not and we had to make many trips back and forth. So that was very frustrating.

It was a very nice cabin and we enjoyed our stay very much. Location had good points and if you like to walk your dog hard points. The walk was down hill and then back up the step hill. Overall we were very pleased.

Our stay at Absoulte High was wonderful. Our family made so many amazing memories there. The cabin was comfortable and clean. My kids enjoyed the game table and TV down stairs and it was nice they had somewhere to watch TV without hearing cartoons. The Keurig didn't work but they had a different coffee machine. The only thing I wished and needed when cooking was slotted spoons as the wooden one they had just didn't work well and some food storage containers would have been nice as we cooked everyday. We would love to stay in this cabin again. This was our 2nd time renting through Carolina Mt Properties and we will never use a different rental for our mountain vacations. We loved sitting outside watching the deer, bunnies, fireflies and chilly temperatures for June.

The cabin was nice. Clean, organized and comfortable (for the most part). What was uncomfortable was the beds. Unfortunately, they were too soft and we all woke up a little groggy. Beds could be better. Only one bed (twin/upstairs) was firm and comfortable.

The view was gorgeous but hidden due to heavy fog and rain that happened during our stay. We did enjoy the little time we had when there was a break in the rain.

Overall, it was a nice and comfortable cabin with a gorgeous view (when its not raining & dense with fog). It would be superb if the beds were a little firmer.

House was nice, easy to get to. Description said there would be a gas grill, but there was only a small old charcoal grill. Agent was very accommodating when I reported it. Overall a nice place.

Absolutely loved our cabin up high. Close to West Jefferson where we spent Halloween watching Trick or Treaters. Went to Cheese Factory which I highly recommend. Close to Boone which I recommend Stick Boy Bakery for coffee and pastry. The staff at Carolina Mountain Properties were very helpful and friendly. This is our 5th year going and hopefully next year will come soon. Can't wait to go back. Gods Country. We love love it!!

Beautiful location, but not such a great sleep

The house is lovely, the location is perfect, and the view could not be better. However two things really detracts from the rating. First, the bed is in very poor condition. It is so soft, that my husband's shoulders fell asleep each night. When you go somewhere like this most people are going to relax and bed quality makes the difference on coming back. It's too bad because we have been looking for a repeat weekend rental - but the bed is a deal breaker.
The other issue is for those of you with children. The dishwasher is not screwed down and tips over - we managed but wouldn't want a toddler there.
Would love to come back - once the owner invests in a decent bed!!

This is a great cabin in a perfect location. The decor is gorgeous with red being the dominant color. Red is my favorite color. Breathtaking quilts enhance the beauty. Very well furnished with the best of everything. Amazing theater room downstairs with first class accommodations. The views from upper and lower decks will not disappoint. It seems as though you can see for miles and miles. Binoculars are even there if you desire a closer look. The cabin was spotless. Great job to the housekeeper. We have been renting through VRBO for many years, usually multiple times a year, and this is by far the most well kept and cleanest rental we've ever been lucky enough to stay in. The views from the porch, family room and master bedroom were spectacular--just as pictured--actually, even better. It was the perfect place to ring in 2016 and we will definitely be back. We love this little cabin! Try to go there every year since we discovered it I think 5-6 years ago. The location is great - feels secluded but is very close to town. The cabin is always clean and well appointed and is tastefully decorated. They have a Keurig now so take your k-cups! We enjoy relaxing on the porch and taking in the view of the valley. TV and internet are great. Probably not a great place to take small children (no "back" yard and the "view side" is steep & rugged.) The only, and I mean the only, negative is the mattress on the bed in the first floor bedroom. I really wish they would invest in a quality mattress. I'd gladly pay a few more dollars a night to help cover the cost! Lovely cabin though! You won't regret choosing it (unless perhaps you have a bad back).
