No matter what season you visit the Carolina Mountains in the High Country, there is always fun-filled activities. Spend a spring getaway with us and witness the mountains coming alive by hiking or biking. In the summer, enjoy a canoe trip down the New River or explore the numerous downtowns, shopping and dining we have to offer. In the fall, enjoy the beautiful colors as Mother Nature paints the mountainsides. When winter arrives hit the slopes for skiing and snow tubing.  The Carolina Mountains has something for everyone anytime of year.

Outdoor Sports

The High Country of North Carolina offers biking, canoeing, kayaking, ziplining, white water rafting, tubing, skiing, snow tubing, and even ice skating.  With so much options, it will be hard to pick.

Scenic Drives

The Blue Ridge Parkway offers a scenic drive with numerous hiking trails, overlooks and picnic areas for those that wish take in breathtaking vistas and some curvy roads.  Riding the Blue Ridge Parkway is something you will want to do again.


Play a round of golf in the beautiful Carolina Mountains to experience a unique experience. Stand on the tee and take in a gorgeous view as you start your round.


Fishing in the New River is a great way to relax. Cast your line from the bank of your own riverfront cabin and enjoying catching trout, smallmouth bass, or largemouth bass!


Enjoy a bike round along Railroad Grade Road in Ashe County or along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Virginia Creeper Trail in Whitetop Virginia offers a beautiful ride on an old railroad bed.
