My wife, our dog, and I had an incredible time exploring this home and the surrounding property. The walking trails provided almost a mile to exercise our energetic pup and the various settings near the house gave us several fun options for relaxation. The house is comfortable and includes everything we needed, even if a bit cluttered.

Quick ride up to Grayson Highlands to see the ponies, but otherwise secluded and private.

Everything is as described.

A little creepy at night for a Mom and Daughter trip with the flying squirrels climbing on the roof and the wind blowing. You definitely are alone!

Only a short drive to Grayson Highlands State Park to spend the day hiking and looking for wild ponies!

We came back and relaxed in the hot tub.

We booked unforgetable for our 30th anniversary get away & it did not disappoint. It was very clean, well kept & the beds were comfy. We were even welcomed by some of the wildlife 2 deer popped out to see who had arrived. My husband would walk the trails on the property in morning while I
slept in. After taking adventures like horseback riding in the mountains & walking the trails at Grayson Highlands National park to see the wild ponies, it was so nice to come back to this unique, cozy cabin & relax. This was a perfect place for us to celebrate 30yrs together. After sharing pictures I've had a few people ask where we were at & I was happy to share the informationwith them. Very private cabin with stocked fish pond. Caught 15 plus fish and let them go. One was 12 inch Bass. Enjoyed the 2 fire pits, one at the pond, another looking over the mountains. Great place to bring your dog.

Only drawback, no spare toilet paper rolls. No biggy, we picked up a four pack at the Dollar General 10 minutes away.
Also, outlet adapter on floor behind couch was broken so could not have 2 lights and couch plugged in at the same time, again no biggy.

Unforgettable outweighed our expectations. It was nice and secluded. It was so roomie, so clean, and was even decorated for Christmas!!! Love that you can see the stars at night while sleeping. The observation area was a bonus. Loved using the hot tub in the evening after hiking. Very close to a cute winery and family restaurants. You are provided everything you need. We will be back!!!

This is our 2nd year booking our girls getaway trip...husband and kid free...so peaceful and relaxing! We left one day without securing the lock on the gate completely and when we returned, it was apparent that someone had been on the property because the gate was open and the chain and lock were laying on the ground beside it. So we learned...close and lock the gate EVERY time! I’m sure we’ll be back for year 3!

The accommodation and grounds were beautiful. The place was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed. The hot tub and views were divine. It was wonderful to have hiking trails on site. Our only complaint was that the bedding included sheets that seemed sort of shredded, with big holes everywhere. Not sure what was up with that. Other than that, great stay.

This place is truly magical. So unique, with beautiful views of the woods, clean, cozy and well equipped. Love the outdoor space with the Jacuzzi and fire pit set up overlooking the mountains. Nice trails around the pond and again, fire pit set up near the pond and benches. The only thing that was missing is a lighter to fire up the fire pit. We didn't have one and could not find one. To eat near by you can go to Stateline Outpost & Grub in Mouth of Wilson about 5m away. That's the other thing that it would have been great to have, a list of places to eat near by. There is not a lot and it was hard to find something that wasn't more than 30m away. Overall, we had an amazing experience and would come back again. Thank you!

The cabin was cozy, clean, perfectly decorated and contained everything we needed. The hot tub was private and relaxing. The pond contained some nice catch and release bass and the hiking trails were actually manicured. Our dogs enjoyed being off leash to explore. We have stayed in a number of rentals in different locations but this geodesic dome is truly "unforgettable".

This place is perfect if you're looking for peace and solitude. There are no signs of civilization visible from the property. You're about as secluded as it gets in this area. We brought all our provisions with us and didn't leave for 3 days! It was amazing. The house itself is just as it looks in the pictures - very unique and fun. It's basically one big room, so keep that in mind when considering your travel mates. It was perfect for 2, but I could see it getting crowded for bigger groups. We went toward the end of winter and it stayed plenty warm for us inside (and in the hot tub!). As others have mentioned, there are flying squirrels active in the shingles at night. Our doggo didn't seem bothered by it, but I know some dogs that wouldn't be as chill. The hiking trails are great and traverse some decent elevation along a lovely creek. There are multiple firepits to choose from. The dark night sky was very good for stargazing. This place has it all. We hope to return one day!

Best cabin and property we've stayed at! No sounds at night I dont understand most negative reviews this place is pretty awesome would love to stay again, the only thing I'd change is to specify that its "North" Grassy Creek NC not just Grassy Creek. After driving 2 hrs and thought we were there we learned we had an 1hr and 50 mins to go but once we got there the trip was perfect wish we could have stayed longer! Very private and relaxing! Thank you for sharing this with the rest of the world! Maybe clean out spider webs from observatory other than that no complaints! This is a very special place to stay!

When you pull into the premises of "Unforgetable" do not be alarmed of the 2 mysterious unadvertised structures that first great you in the darkness. There is likely nothing inside of them however you wouldn't know since there are no photos including them on the VRBO page. There are also no photos of the spider webs, flying squirrels, or wolves that roam the property at night eviscerating deer about 50 yards in any direction so be sure not to forget your shotgun if you plan on late night relaxing in the hot tub. Which you will need to do because if you stay in the dome past 6 pm you will heat the sounds of racing and pounding flying squirrels all night. So be sure to get drunk in the hot tub, blast music as loud as you can and distract yourself with your partner because that's the only way you will not notice atleast 20 flying squirrels tearing around the dome all night like it's the Daytona 500. Anyways other then the deer evescierated corpses on the hiking trails it's totally peaceful. The cows seemed nice. This is more of an endurance challenge than a vacation spot. It's about 50 minutes from the nearest town and the mountain is a long ride. Good luck.

Great place! Makes me want to build a sphere shaped house! The only issues is the flying squirrels literally keep you up all night if you’re not a heavy sleeper! And they have mouses! But everything else was amazing! Great views. Quiet and secluded!

Despite entertaining Hurricane Sally for part of the vacation, we had a glorious week in this amazing geodesic dome house. Sunny days on the wonderful deck area in the tree tops was wonderful. We enjoyed walking the well marked and cleared trails with our dog who loves this location. We rented this house five years ago and want to offer a special thanks to the owner for all the upgrades: new appliances, more seating, additional lighting, security handrails around the house, interior fireplace, outside fire pits, to name but a few. It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the mountains.

What more can you say? We didn’t get to see a lot or any really wildlife. It was raining while we were there. House was really clean and nice. Anything we needed was there. Located in a centralized place to get to Sparta or Jefferson. Secluded spot, just enjoyed our anniversary there.

Great cabin. Management was really easy to work with. This place is well kept and has a lot of thoughtful touches- so many places to sit and relax!! We will definitely be back. Note that I wouldn't necessarily bring really young children here because the railings are low. Also as some have already said, there are no walls between the bed areas and the rest of the cabin, so come with people you like 😉
Close to Grayson Highlands, where we spent most of our time, but honestly I would come here and just hang out at the cabin. Really happy to have found this spot.

We have stayed at several mountain rentals and this was the most unique and also our favorite for the property itself -- with hiking trails, two fire pits, a great hot tub, and several outside sitting areas. We enjoyed how any time of day, we could find a sitting area with whatever amount of sun or shade or view we were looking for. Very restful! Beds were comfortable. Inside of rental was nicely decorated and so unique with all the windows. (Bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in or you will wake up with the sun.) There is not much privacy inside as it is all open with the exception of the bathrooms, but that was fine for our group. Kitchen was fairly equipped, but there were not pans for baking our brownies so we had to be creative. The property was about 20 minutes from Jefferson and West Jefferson where we enjoyed gem mining at Gem Valley, disc golf at Ashe County Park, and shopping. We would stay here again.

Decided to book during a snowy month and it covers the area beautifully! Cabin is well kept, customer service was very well, and cabin was extraordinary! The exaggeration of a 4WD vehicle during the winter/snowy months is very important. Could not get up hill with 2WD, had to park near gate, but overall it was definitely Unforgettable. Great experience for me and a couple buddies to get away for a weekend.

We loved experiencing this very unique house. We really enjoyed the open space, the wood floors and all the windows. You really feel like you are in a treehouse amongst all the trees. The privacy made the outdoor space, pond and hot tub all the more enjoyable. We enjoyed taking day trips to several of the nearby state parks. We really got a great feel for the northern part of North Carolina! We had a great week and would highly recommend!

When we arrived at the destination we were pleasantly pleased with the quaint location and abode. Though it was raining throughout our stay we still were able to enjoy the grounds. A downside to the rain were leaks in the home. There was one leak in the bathroom which was easily fixed by putting a trash can under and another over the area we slept, which was unexpected when we felt droplets on our head. There also seemed to be an area where wasps were entering the home because we found dead ones behind the bead and many living ones flying around the home. Lastly, there was hair left in the drain from a previous stay. With all this being said we spend a good deal of time outside that many of these things could be forgotten.

This property is situated in an ideal location for R&R - nestled far back in the middle of a Christmas Tree farm right off a major road leading to West Jefferson. The home itself is quite "rustic". The interior shell of the dome is unfinished lumber with unfinished plywood sheating. The intersecting pentagons that make up the structure have spray-foam insulation poking out of each intersection, yet the home is far from weather-proof. We have stayed here several times and each time when it's rained, we've had raindrops on our head in the upstairs sleeping areas. There are also several wasps nests and we have had to hunt down and kill several wasps in the home each day. Despite these shortcomings, the home is enjoyable for it's surrounding property - hiking, fishing, etc.

Wonderful place to just get away from it all.
We had a great time just relaxing, visiting the local attractions, visiting wineries, tubing, kayaking and horseback riding. Then ending the day cooking out, fishing in the pond and relaxing
in the hot tub.

The house is awesome, so unique!!! Mornings on the deck with a cup of coffee listening to the birds and watching the occasional deer visitors was a great way to start our day.

In spite of the rain and November cold, we had a great experience in the geodesic dome. A couple of nights were crystal clear and the stars twinkling into the bedroom window were beyond spectacular. I've never seen so many stars! The trails were great fun to hike and our dog enjoyed running up and down the hills.

This is an amazing property, both the home and the land. Reservation process was simple and efficient. The property was very private. There is another cabin right down the hill from this one, but it was unused while we were here.

The cabin had everything we needed. It does need a new coffeemaker - as this one had a carafe that did not match, which led to the coffee spilling out.

The home was very cozy, even with the 35 degree temps and 20+ MPH winds outside.

The owners thought of everything outside - as there are benches and chairs strategically places all over the property to capitalize on the outdoor views.

We will definitely stay again!

This is our third stay at Unforgettable, and it has never failed to be a wonderful experience. The mountain setting is private and beautiful. The house itself is very clean and comfortable even if a little rustic. This year we had occasion to meet the owner who built the house himself - a very warm and friendly guy who cares about the cabin and keeps it well-maintained.

I would not describe the house as luxury, but it is well-decorated and well-kept - clean and neat - very open and spacious inside. The first thing you do when you walk in is look up at the huge domed ceiling and then out the large window. It is a really cool place. It has been our favorite mountain cabin.

Nice relaxing vacation on a tree farm. It was a great place to let our dog run and play. We stayed her over 10 years ago a few times. The cabin was much cleaner inside this time and the bed was very comfortable. It was the same hot tub as last time and it still worked great!

An incredible place to re-unite with nature. Love the surroundings and the nature trail on property. Very private and secluded which is a plus. The dome is unlike any other cabin I have stayed in. Very comfortable and well appointed. My only negative comment would be the television...sound quality is poor and size is also small. Beds slept well and nice to wake up under the "trees"

The vacation was great!!!! The dome was simply amazing, and the property was gorgeous. We had a blast walking the trails and enjoying the hot tub. The only concerning part of the trip was when we were enjoying the hot tub our first night at about 1130 at night and a machine came up and started spraying pesticides right beside us. Other than that we had a great experience and a wonderful time. We do plan on vacationing there again.

My wife and I celebrate our 1 year anniversary this past weekend here. It was excellent. Tons of open land to explore and lots of privacy. Everything we needed was provided. Very Clean! WiFi and TV was provided if wanted but no cell reception kept it peaceful.

The property had great views and was secluded. Unfortunately we could not use the hot tub as it foamed up when the jets were turned on. The real interesting things happened at bed time. There were a family of squirrels or mice living in the roof. All the scampering around and chewing noises made it hard to get a decent night's sleep. We never did hear anything back from the management company about our concerns and issues we had over the weekend.

Overall, it was a fun cabin for our family with kids age 5, 7, and 9. We read over the description and knew there weren't any true bedrooms before choosing it. It was a little dated and rustic, and the water pressure wasn't the greatest, but it is well kept, cleaned, and seemed to have anything we needed for our 3 night stay. One thing we noticed as we arrived after dark is the lack of lighting. It was fine in the daytime, but a little difficult to see at night upstairs. We did appreciate all the labels on switches and around the cabin. We had no problem with squirrels as some other reviews said. We also had no problems with the hot tub, which we definitely enjoyed each day! As stated, there isn't much, if any, cell service so the wifi was appreciated to communicate and look at maps before each days' adventures.

We had a fun, relaxing time! We loved this cabin! So unique and rustic. We enjoyed the hot tub and it’s view so much! We hiked around the house, cooked in the kitchen and just had a relaxing fun get away! The only issue we had was one of the toilets cracked, it was really kind of a freak accident though, so no fault on the property management, it just caused for a bit of a scare but every one was okay. We would definitely go back for another relaxing get away.

Have never experienced a more private vacation experience. Fascinating observatory at the top! Windows made us feel like we were ONE with nature.
Hot tub so therapeutic! Striking pond filled with fish and turtles. Swings that took me back in time to childhood. Trails, picnic tables, nostalgic Adirondack furniture.......a great location for working out. Peace, serenity, solitude.

We had a great time in the mountains! Although it rained for a good portion, we were able to enjoy the hot tub, pond, and firepit! I took your advice and book dinner at the River House Restaurant and it was great! It was very quaint, the staff was super friendly, and the food was awesome!

The only two notes I would make:
1. We weren’t quite sure where the key was. This is most likely because when we arrived, the gate was open so we passed the little box on the drive.
2. This is possibly completely my fault, but I didn’t read where it said the grill was a charcoal grill. I was expecting a gas grill, and therefore was unable to prepare what I had brought for the grill but the fully stocked kitchen made preparing the meal inside just as easy.

We had a lovely time and will reccommend it to friends in the future. Especially those with dogs because ours had a blast running around the property!

OMG....Unforgettable was just that. We fell completely in love with this adorable cottage. Crazy thing is we loved it so much we stayed an extra night and are ready to move right in. The 40 acres is just as they said VERY PRIVATE and the pond, firepit, hiking trails and all the seating are placed perfectly on the property. It was so peaceful we never even left or turned on the TV! We hiked, fished, roasted marshmallows, hot dogs, relaxed in hot tub and enjoyed the view and all the natural habitat surrounding us. We are ready to book another visit already. Thank you for making our booking so friendly and easy and thanks to the owners for sharing such an amazing place.

Rental was exactly as described. Pictures did not do it justice. Very secluded, very relaxing. This is a well maintained property. Enjoyed the hot tub and grilling out. Very spacious for the 4 adults staying here. Checking in was a breeze. Plenty of cooking utensils, towels, etc. The only compliant we had was with the WiFi, it was so slow, but I guess that is expected in the middle of no where. House was short drive to Shatley springs and to Grayson highlands ( go see the ponies!). We will definitely be booking this rental again!

The house is very unique. Inside is basically one big room with a loft. There is only a small divider between the rooms so there isn't much privacy. That was fine for our family. If the house was updated, it would be pretty nice. It rained most of the time we were there. Most of the windows leaked. We had to put down pots and bowls to keep the floor from becoming too soaked. There was a fair amount of black mold, probably from all the leaking. Overall though, it was a nice stay.

Private.With all the trees on the land it makes you feel isolated wich is what I wanted.The trail is nicely shaded like I wanted. Second day I was very happy to twice on the trail see an owl.There are critters making noise at night (wildlife) but that is not a complaint ( to be expected if you want to be in the wild wich I did). Just fyi for anyone who dose not want that. Very quiet peaceful place.

Check in was really easy. You don’t have to go to an office or meet anyone on the property. While you’re on your way to the cabin, they call you with security code to the gate.
Cabin was clean. Kitchen fully stocked. WiFi worked well.
We brought our 2 dogs. They loved the trails and the pond.
We had a great time & would love to visit again.

Liked the design of the cabin. Furniture and appliances do not blend with the design. Stove very outdated. Also, mice in the walls. Could here what sounded like hundreds of mice in the wall near bed left of stairway. Couldn't sleep for all the scurrying. Left note regarding this situation. Otherwise, very much liked the dome cabin itself.

I found this property online while researching for a honeymoon spot. My future husband made it possible for us to spend our first week of marriage here. The name is everything it implies! We loved the peaceful setting, fished in the pond, soaked in the hot tub and enjoyed breakfast on the deck. We explored around the property on the hiking trails. Every window and outside area to relax had a beautiful view! West Jefferson was very convenient for supplies, even salmon for the grill. Shatley Springs was also close by for a great meal! Since we are both fishermen, we enjoyed checking out the New River Park. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. The property was so well maintained and beautiful. I did call the office a couple of times and always reached a very friendly person. I hope to make it a tradition to go on our anniversaries 🙂
